Plant vs. Animal Cells

Step inside the microscopic factory. Compare both cell types, spotlight each organelle, and drain the vacuole to watch a plant wilt in real time.

Every cell is a microscopic factory. Plants add a wall, chloroplasts and a giant water sac.

The Real Plant

Turgid: standing tall

Water level 85%

Each full vacuole pushes water pressure (turgor pressure) out against the rigid cell wall. Millions of pressurized cells lock together like stacked bricks, holding the plant upright without any bones.

The Kitchen-Table Insight

Cell Wall

Rigid Outer Protection & Skeleton

A tough, rigid outer box made of cellulose fibers. It gives plant cells a fixed brick shape and withstands internal water pressure, so trees can stand tall without skeletons.

Grades 6 & 7 • Science • Free, no login

Step inside both cell types, spotlight ten organelles, and wilt a plant by draining its vacuole.

Kitchen Table Prompt

Switch between the two cells and ask what the plant has that the animal does not: a rigid wall, green chloroplasts and a giant water sac. Then drag the water slider down and watch the plant wilt.
